Nine Lives
Cats Eyes

”What the fuck do you mean she’s gone?!” Dean yelled down the phone, white hot rage spiralling into his head, through his veins and right into the tips of each end of his body. Shoving his steel toed boots onto his feet as he grabbed for his truck keys, power flowing through his body and practically vibrating off the walls as he moved. Anger in his eyes as the yellow came into them, warning growls as he stormed through the lobby and down to the basement. No. No. No. This couldn’t be fucking happening- they’d just buried Noah. They’d just buried fucking NOAH. Slamming himself into the truck as he sped into the night, towards the Bronx, having to shove off his music as he gritted his teeth hard. Ignoring the lights, ignoring the angry horn blaring of the fucking New Yorkers. Ignoring fucking everywhere to get to Central Purrk.

Tires screeched as he pulled up; his night workers were just inside the Cafe, looking out the window, putting up a sign on the window to apologise for the inconvenience but that they would be closed for the night. They unlocked and opened the door as Dean stormed in, eyes scanning for the vampire guards he’d been relying on and finding them lounging in the back. A growl surpassed his lips as he stormed forward, hand cracking out and grabbing one of them by the neck and slamming them against the wall with enough force that a crack appeared in the plaster behind them. ”EXPLAIN YOURSELF.” He roared, teeth bared as his claws began to extend from his nails, digging into the skin of the vampire. ”DO IT FUCKING NOW!” He yelled in his face.

A stuttered explanation, they’d been held up, they’d been late, when they got here she wasn’t here, and noone could get through to her. Dean had received the text on his phone, the SOS text that Liz had sent and then he couldn’t get through to her, and the line was dead and these Motherfuckers were sorry. He wanted to spread his brains across the walls, he wanted to chain them down in fucking silver and pour holy water down their throats. But instead he threw one to the side and growled to him; ”Call Nova now. Here. Now. And you two are not fucking going anywhere Moving from there to his office, he went to his security footage he’d installed, watching the live feed now as the alley looked empty.

It didn’t take him long, he pulled up the tapes from the last couple of hours, watching as stray cats walked past. Watching Benji leave the shift much earlier, taking the trash out with her- she was home now, babysitting Benjiro tonight. He watched every moment of the night until finally, in the corner of the footage he saw the headlights of a truck- no number plate. And then, then, a large figure walking out in the dark. The same blurred image he’d seen on the footage from the Pride, he watched as Liz walked out the cafe, was walking towards the street. Watched helplessly as the gun was pointed to her head. As she was walked to the truck. As the truck pulled away. And then, an hour later, the vampires turned up. And his growl was louder as his hands cracked on the desk.

A copy of the clip was sent to Draven, and then to Hannah and Ricco. And then he sat there, waiting for Nova to appear, as much as he wanted to destroy the vampires which could have stopped another being taken, they were not his to kill.

Liz. Fuck. He failed Liz.

Being an early riser, she was already sexed, fed, showered and now catching up on her nightly schedule. Her eyes skimming over the paper that brain seemed now able to process without the need of true vision. Simply filtering in that took very little effort on her part and she had to thank Logan for that. Unknowingly the runes in her eyes were spinning to translate and knowledge just swamped into the frontal lobe. She couldn't do it for anything else for sight but she had figured out that she could 'read' in a way and what was more alarming was the runes about the Hotel.. she could see those too. Possibly an unintended side effect from it or Logan had wanted her to view the enchantments set up about them. Either way, it was useful...

Paper set aside she stood in her heels and moved with grace towards the garage for her first appointment for the evening. A boring seminar that her assistant had setup for some sort of leadership skills. Nova had agreed if only to become a better leader... setting the Kiss up for success and this new age thinking. The old ways were fine and dandy, they worked and changing how the Kiss ran was all in part of growing. Yet that was all for humans and their way of thinking. Her assistant was young still, and damned her for trying but Nova had agreed to see what it was all about.. yet she'd give anything to avoid going. Her style of dress was criticized by her assistant with mumbled groaning and it was perhaps that Nova had dressed like this on purpose to dissuade from going. "Oh hush, I'll wear my shawl over it." She conceded with earned her a huff but it had subdued the woman.

She was stepping into her chauffeured car when a call was put through to the driver, her head turning round jut enough so that voice could ring back to her. Unnecessary but she nodded for him to do so. Dean. Emergency at his establishment. The one her people were meant to guard and her lips curled in both frustration and enjoyment that this would stall going to this dreadful thing. "Looks like we have to reschedule. Olive, dear... I hate to be rude but... out. Cancel everything until I tell you what I need." And her door was pushed open so the stuttering assistant would get out and head back into the Hotel to realign the evening.

Directions were sent to the driver to take her to Central Purrk and grateful that it was well past rush hour they made it in record time. The car parked outside the place she had once met with Dean in laughter and smiles... only now she could feel tension, that want for death, the calling of it with pure desire and the graveness of the situation she was walking into had her back ram rod straight, hand reaching for the handle without need for guidance and blind eyes were blank as she hiked with ease towards the back room where feeling of her own and that pure desire to rip and shred was coming from. Stoic, calm... she stopped just short within the doorway to survey everything before the stone quiet in her voice was all too gentle. "Dean... While I appreciate you saving me from a rather drool evening, I'm afraid I was left out of the contents to this sudden summoning... what happened?"

In the time that he’d been sitting in his office he had made the necessary calls to Marten, to Andrei, to Benji, to Celeste, to fucking everyone in the fucking Pard to get them to take their asses to the Cathouse and stay there. He sent messages to Ginny, to keep Quentin and Orinosuke safe, to keep her eyes on them and make sure people in the hotel knew what was going on and then he sat there. He summoned the two fucking vampires into the office and ordered them with a scathing growl to sit their asses down and not say a word until their Master arrived. Dean’s blood boiled, leaning forward as his claws dug into the wood of his desk, deep scratches dragging into the wood as the power rippled off him. Shoulders hunched. The anger as a good protective layer, a good layer against the other feeling of that once again he had failed his Pard, that he couldn’t protect them, that nothing he ever did was right. Right now, rage was easier to handle, and these two… despicable beings had gone against the careful alliance that had been laid out in front of the Kiss and Pard. There was an order to protect them, that they needed them and in turn the Pard would give to them.

And it felt like bitter betrayal in his mouth to know that their lives were not important enough to these vampires to protect them.

Over and over again, he replayed the footage, trying to make out the face on the screen- some of his cameras had been taken out it seemed so he couldn’t get a clear shot. But the stature, the way he walked, it all led to signs. What if this man walked the streets still? Blending in as just any other human could do. What if he’d come to Central Purrk before, and sat and drank his coffee while watching his staff. How many times had he seen Benji? What if she was the target and Liz simply got in the way? Dean was bringing up more of his footage, a feeble attempt to see if there was anything else he’d be able to draw, some more clues some sort of data as if even seeing the guy’s face would make a difference somewhere along the lines. As if he would know him and then find Liz right now.

Eyes lifted only when he smelt Nova, to his word the two shits near to him were quiet and he looked to Nova with his jaw tense, rolling his shoulders and straightening his back. ”One of my leopards was taken by HASC tonight, when your vampires were meant to be on watch.” Dean said bluntly, anger seething and dripping from every word, keeping yellow eyes on Nova. ”They said they were held up but are bullshitting me as to what was more important than the lives of their allies. Why, when I check the footage they arrive over an hour later than their meet time is meant to be.” Growling lowly as claws ripped through the wood of his desk as the hard line of his jaw.

She stood still as sense reached out to fill the room. Sending out brushes of power to determine the state of the matter and while mind was in the process of working through that information, the calm exterior of her relaxed form gave nothing else away other than interest and rapt attention. She was on alliance grounds here and while most people hadn't the power to summon her like some flim flam of a push over... she had arrangements with Dean. Amiable towards the other that she didn't wish to break with attitude or disdain. She could tell he was upset. More than upset. Her power over desires and want were not so accustomed to that of rage, it wasn't what she felt or how she felt it... but she felt the want to kill. To avenge. To protect. This told her he was up in arms over something and she waited patiently for the explanation. Arms crossed about her stomach, hip jutted out for comfort and head tilted to the side as she listened.

Her hearing was superb. Excellent in fact. Her own personal lie detector and from what she could tell form Dean. it was the truth. There was a pause... silence as she absorbed that information and eyes narrowed in the deadly calm that was in her voice. "Late you say..." Chin tipped towards those two. They weren't of the Dragon bloodline... thankfully but perhaps she should be sending them out instead. Although she would hate to lose such a rare bloodline... they were Padma and Morte... "We were caught in traffic form an accident-"

Her hand lifted up... "Silence....stay put" Her power pushing towards them to have mouths seal shut and eyes jump wide to the command issued. Power in her voice, radiating outwards with her leader strength... Ha. Teach that in a seminar. Her foot stepped forwards, a slow canter towards them as the icy cold of tone drifted outwards while she stepped closer. "You left an hour early from what I recall." her tone all but promising as hands were placed on each shoulder. Touch amplifying her power. "Lets see what really kept you hmm?" Danger, it was an aura that seemed to exude from her as painted nails dug into the flesh of shoulder and both men suddenly went rigid.

Memories. They were rifled through, drawn back and relived. An hour... two... three.. as far as she needed to go until answer was achieved and that taunting icy look on her features changed as she witnessed they delay. She between between the two sitting in their chair, her lips at whispering as if to a lover as she spoke. "Was what was provided as a meal prior to your departure not enough that you had to stop for a little taste of slumming whores?" Cold, the sheer drop of octave was already signed with a death warrant as she stood back up and both of them were now writhing in agony, cuts forming along their bodies as head tilted from side to side as if exacting them with an invisible blade.

She reached forwards once done, lifting one up by the throat to toss on the floor towards Dean. She didn't need so much as look towards him. Her back still to him as she spoke. "This one is yours to deal with as you please Dean...." Morte one at his feet, still unable to move as per Nova's command. "He demanded they stop for brunch before heading over... this one... didn't try hard enough to stop him and is mine... "

It was rare for a man such as Dean to feel such rage at any given situation, but this was something that was affecting him deeply- in that he had put trust into the Kiss to help protect them. That they knew of the precarious position the Pard were in comparatively to the rest of the lycanthrope groups. Smaller, less able, pregnant, and young, they were in a position where they were forced to rely on those stronger than them to try and keep them safe until they were in a better position. And it didn’t sit right on his shoulders that these vampires were so arrogant to think that something was better than doing their job, than protecting those who needed their protection. And because of that neglect, it directly led to the kidnapping of his own by the exact threat he had been trying to protect them against.

And he’d had enough, enough of feeling weak and being viewed as the weak one. His reputation in tatters already due to the gossiping of Orinosuke that he was some monster who was cruel and unfair, he didn’t need to add on that he was weak and couldn’t protect his people from harm. Especially those who needed it most. Liz, fucking Liz, she was so anxious and depressed and she was getting better in time and things were only just starting to look up for her, and she’d been so scared when they got the updates on HASC but he’d fucking assured her and them all that nothing was going to happen. That they keep living their lives, that they don’t give into terrorists. And now he had no idea where she was.

Because of them.

Anger filled eyes stared at the vampires stuttering to Nova, the same lame excuse- even if he wasn’t a lie detector he knew when people were bullshitting him. And they were gonna try that with their Master too? Crossing his arms over his chest as he watched Nova he huffed out slowly, watching as the men froze as Nova touched them. Waiting, watching, growl in his throat strong as Nova continued to speak. They stopped… to eat. When the Pard were providing the meals before the guards would come, both warm straight from vein and in stock.

The smell of blood ripped through the air and so did Dean’s snarl, vicious and low as the vampire was thrown at his feet. Arms uncrossing as he squatted and picked the vampire up by the neck and pinned him to the wall. Turning he picked up his toolbox from work and pulled out a leather satchel, and unfolded to reveal his older chisels. Most were blunt and they weren’t ones he used all the time for work, and like a snap he had picked up the longest one he had and SLAM had thrust it through the vampire’s throat and into the wall, pinning him to it. ”I’m not killing you now. But if she’s dead, you’re getting the same.” The vampire was gargling and trying to get off the wall but it was buried deep into the plaster behind him. There he would stay until Dean had better confirmation, he didn’t give a shit. He deserved it and he wasn’t dead.

Turning his back on the gargling he looked to Nova; ”The footage shows the same man who took the others. It's another HASC attack. This is my third to go missing directly about HASC, do the vampires have more information?” Dean demanded, leaning into the desk and looking at her. ”Cause I’m fucking tired of getting my people taken.”

There was only a mild twitch of head as she caught sight of Dean staking the male to the wall. Burbles and choking of air being hissed out of lungs. He wouldn't die from air loss... perhaps be paralyzed from the neck down, which didn't seem to be happening as he flailed, kicked and moved. If he planned on running once free she was most certainly sure that he would. That bloodoathing would find him anywhere though so there was no point in running and she was certain if she could see his face... it would be showing just how fucked he was right now.

All to keep the peace and really, she was getting pretty tired of having issues with their alliances, putting out fires when she was tempted to put on a fire ban to keep shit together. It should be easy to do really, just not start trouble or be on time. However, she was pleased to see that how she handled the Pack's alliance issue, had seemed to allow for the standard. Dean had not demanded a term of punishment or done it on his own, allowing her to subject her kin to it and what she deemed would appease the alliance. His need for blood letting was part of her reason for just tossing the male at him to be handled. Not that she wasn't capable of killing him herself, but the fact that another of Deans' people had been taken due to his failure. Blood for blood.

A heavy sigh left her. That gurgling continued and she didn't much care for his suffering right now. "The same man you say?" to her it sounded like one male doing all this ... or he was the muscle behind it all. She frowned and turned to face Dean. The question of information had her reaching out over to Logan. Her request to him had been put earlier in the month and he'd been hard pressed to dwindle down the files of who was in New York currently. She was quiet for a moment, having a silent conversation with him before she nodded and voice was directed to the male on the chair. "Go back to my vehicle and bring me my tablet... you will then it back down and keep your mouth shut."

He studiously stood and left the room almost robotic like. "Logan has some files I can give you. Strings were pulled and he has a list of discharged men from the military that are living here in New York. Its not a complete list... but his years in Black Ops got him some classifieds." her vampire was back within moments and finger switched to turn it on. Operating it with relative ease and familiarity as she opened the file that just pinged her inbox before handing it over for Dean to read over.

"There are 9 in total that he could pass on, the others are working for him and he's had them out of the city across the world for the past several months. Xander Klost, Justin Tredeu, Thomas Mase, Kilian Audry, Stuart Newton, Haven Baker, Jackson Monreau, Toby Miller, Ryan Charge.... All of which have extensive knowledge in operations such as this, some having actual crimes against the super community and access to guns. Logan has their current known jobs right now and will be able to update that with their spending habits... it should help narrow down some of what we need to find this guy.Do any look big what what you saw?" She was relying from what Logan was sharing with her, and she knew there were photos with their profiles.

The obscene gurgling behind him made him want to also retrieve the duct tape from his same bag and put it across the vampire’s mouth. It wasn’t that Dean was cruel by any means, he knew upon removal of the chisel that the vampire could heal and it was not worse than anything that he knew the vampires could do but he’d needed that release. And the thought of pinning him there for now made him feel better, less agitated about the whole affair though he knew nothing would alleviate the prickling underneath his skin until he had Liz home and safe.

Demanding any further information made him itch further, he’d been left in the dark by so many of the groups for so long that he just couldn’t help but feel the agitation lie under his skin from it all. Standing silently for a moment he then moved around his desk and sat himself down on the edge of it, still on his feet as he pushed his monitor so that he could see the footage again, before then switching to his live feed to watch around the cafe. Anger still shooting in his eyes as he rubbed his head and waited for Nova to have her tablet brought to her. Outside it was still, quiet; there had been no struggle and so there were no signs of anything happening. It once again, looked like a boring alleyway which needed the trash taken to the dumpster.

Eyes lifting as Nova spoke he nodded slowly, the vampires connections were better than what he had and Dean wasn’t afraid to admit that. Though, it was something he would have to work on- it was possible he could find Diamond again and get him to act as some sort of informant for him for the important stuff. Diamond might not have considered himself part of the pard, but he was still under protection from it whether he liked it or not. Reaching and taking the tablet as it was passed to him he lifted his finger so that he could flick through the profiles, looking at each photo. Some were mugshots, others seemed to have official military portraits but as most of them were headshots there wasn’t much he could tell body wise.

”I’m forwarding this to myself.” Dean stated as he started typing his email into the send bar and with a quick ping it was sent off to him, flashing up on his phone. ”Draven will probably be able to identify the man, he’s seen him in person.” Dean stated with a nod, handing the tablet back to Nova and then running both of his hands through his hair with another low growl before staring at the ceiling and rolling his neck side to side. ”It's appreciated Nova.” He added, with a nod to himself and then rolling his eyes to the vampire attached to his wall. ”This one, can you arrange to have a coffin delivered to here, where he will stay until I have information?” He asked of Nova, knowing the Kiss had the type of coffin that could hold the vampire in until further notice.

Rubbing at his own head again he sighed deeply and kept his head in his hands. ”Do I shut up the business for now? I told my Pard that we wouldn’t bend to terrorists and still live, but now, this. What do you think?”
